  1. This $20 upgrade saved my AirPods Pro from the junk drawer | Macworld
    https://www.macworld.com/article/2672915/airpods-pro-comply-foam-tips-better-fit.html

I have AirPods Pro, and, being deaf, I have used and tested them as hearing aids via the new functionality Apple recently released in Australia. My AirPods fit well; however, I am interested to read: "The memory foam shapes to the contours of your ear and is denser than that little silicone flap, so it forms a better seal. "

While I will stick with hearing aids for most interpersonal interactions, a better seal will also improve the noise cancellation (which is already good) on the AirPods.

Because AirPods Pro 3 will probably be released later this year, I will wait to buy Comply Foam Ear Tips. Generally, I like to get the most value from my Apple products by waiting a long time to upgrade, but with the AirPods Pro 3, I will make an exception because of my special needs (hearing issues).

  1. The 60-second writing task that can reveal the earliest signs of dementia - how do you perform?
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-14711979/60-second-writing-task-earliest-signs-dementia.html

"Previous studies have estimated that around 40 per cent of all dementia cases could be prevented with lifestyle changes.

This includes healthier diets, increased exercise, drinking less alcohol, preventing head injury and using hearing aids."

A sobering reminder of the need to look after our bodies. As a deaf person with long experience, I regularly talk to people with hearing issues. A significant number of these ignore the possible dementia implications of uncorrected hearing loss.

I wasn't born deaf but became so as a very young child due, according to doctors in the 1960s, to parental neglect and mismanagement. Decades later, my mother tried to suggest it was the effect of antibiotics. However, she is an extraordinarily clever and manipulative woman, known for telling lies and casting herself in a good light. My father was abusive and shouted a lot, including at me. I had flashbacks of him shouting close to my ears when I was small, so that fits with the medical diagnosis, too.

  1. "Prayer will make a man cease from sin, or sin entice a man to cease from prayer. The spirit of prayer is more precious than treasures of gold and silver. Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan." John Bunyan
